Sicily - Agrigento - Valley of the Temples

Driving from Palermo to Agrigento through rolling hills and farms that proved difficult to photograph from a moving bus.  We stopped for lunch near the sea.

Some people just HAD to get in the water!

The new arrived at The Valley of the Temples, an important archeological site and a UNESCO World Heritage site.  The Greeks were here before there was an Italy. Above is a 600 year old olive tree.

The sky that day was as magnificent as the ancient temples.

The next day was spent in Catania on the eastern side of Sicily

The elephant in the square is iconic of the city but they actually have no explanation of its significance.
The market is especially known for the fish.

Captured this guy but missed the one dangling his lit cigarette over the fresh fish!

Guys gather in groups under the shady bridge

One of them in silhouette on the right is a monk.
